WA will become famous soon enough
9/11 commemoration thread

What happened a year ago on 9/11 was a lot of things, but above all else, it was a tragedy, one that transcends all cultures, countries and races. To remember this day is not just to honor the victims of that day, but reaffirm the resiliency- and decency- of the human spirit.

Use this thread to commemorate and remember 9/11. Pay your respects in your own way, including silence.

www.commemoratewtc.com is an excellent site with its origins stemming from the old JSK forums in case you don't remember George.

tragedy is the word today i suppose but it goes much deeper than it looks like. and those roots are in politics and seeing as we are here to help and get help for computer and code i dont think it would be a good idea to start talking politics because people you might like as coders may disgust you with thier politcal ideas. anyways thats my point of view and i pay my respects to everyone involved in this catastrophe of human nature.

I experienced it live with other members of WA, the shock as things unfolded was surreal. The feeling of voyeurism was followed by sickness and disgust at the murder of so many people.

I'm still sickened by companies using this tragedy as an excuse to make people redundant, website's cashing in through conspicuous means and the general media frenzy that hasn't stopped since.

My heart goes out - which it rarely does - to those who lost people so needlessly. Also to those thousands of innocent who died in the 'war' that ensued.

I thank some of the members of WA whom shared and supported one another with compassion and tolerance and showed genuine concern for members like Bawy located in the area.

I'm also proud my country is united in standing so closely by America in this whole scenario.

Alex Vincent is on a distinguished road
For us veterans, it holds a special meaning.

For those of us who think violence is never the answer, it holds another.

Saw my name in Mouse's post... I have been paged...

I can't say I was totally confident this 9/11 would go smoothly (as it thankfully did.) It is really kinda disturbing to know this stuff went on so close to home...

On the contrary, of course it bothers me. But it is human instinct to be more bothered when your own life is at stake.

Besides, it is presidents' pop's fault we were attacked by the Taliban, in his own words supporting them "seemed like a good idea at the time." And wackax, your country is harbouring the money and wife of known terrorist leader, yaser. Like most of the larger countries in the world, there were/are deadly mistakes made by supporting the wrong people. But they were not my decisions, nor yours (unless your name is Chirac.) What you or I would do in the situation may be different; but could also have yeilded worse unforeseen effects. Can't change the past, just the future... The world's pain disturbs me, but I, like you, can only do what a human being is able. I wish I could do more...

People care less the further away and the more cultural differences there are between themselves and the problem. Anyone who denies that must is either lying or working for the Red Cross.

The above is defines the topic of this thread. It is not a place for political discussion / argument, such as Whackaxe's first post following Bawy's. Nothing I saw in Bawy's post warrented such a response . IMO, there is no place in this thread for this post, nor any provacation:

I'm closing this thread before it further degrades into a sensless political discussion, undermining the original purpose of this thread.
