I'm really not sure where I should post this thread, so if this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry.
I run a web page & forum for a comprehensive database of information on fan recorded metal music shows. There are 2 things I really need help with.
1) Creating a search field for the page. The page is about 4 gb in size and has over 1000 HTML pages in it, so a good majority of the scripts and things I have found up to now do not support a large area search. I would like some help of a how to on how to set that up on my web page.
2) Creating a database with a user login. Basically I need to create a place for members to register to my web page, login and search other's lists for particular shows they are looking for so they can request the show from the other trader. I have some basic ideas in mind on search capabilities and what they should be able to search for, but no idea how to put it together.
I'm new to making forms work, unless I have a script for them to copy and paste into the HTML. I haven't conquered making them from scratch and from what I've seen, this is what I will most likely have to do. I use MS Front Page 2003 to create my web pages, and the server (host) I upload the server to is run on an apache linux system with MySQL, PHP and many other features. I'm very new to all of this and want to make the best possible, professional looking page I can with all the little things that would be very cool for the page. The link to the page is
http://www.metalbootlegdatabase.com and I'm currently working on a "new" look for the site that is quite a bit more sleak than what's up right now. Any help will be appreciated, and please as simple as you can possibly say it.
TIA!
