Using the Internet has been prevalent only recently. But this is not included the whole country. Even in capital city there are only 40%. 30% use the Internet for fun, entertainment like chatting. 5% use it for commerce. The last 5% use it their research.
In my country, even a (BSc in Computer Science)graduate can't properly write any programs at all. In our computer universities and colleges, students are all engaged in learning computer books. They have no proper or regular practice on computers. Some students don't have their own computers. They learn computer theories by heart for passing the exams.
It's true that many computer training companies have been established. However, their purposes are for making their living;for their benefits rather than the future of youth;the training prices are high; the jobs are rare. So no one can ever adore computer field.
There are probably some bright IT professionals. But they use their knowledge for their own benefits. I'd like them to call us by seminars;but they don't ever.
So many prospective students go to foreign countries for better future.
... No offense, but what the hell are you on about? lol. I'm a bit confused, maybe I read wrong but you just stated the situation in your post and that was it. Is there a question? Is there a point?

No kidding, sir....
I'm really frustrated with our current situation.....
I hope I'll nonprofitably do a great deal for our country's IT one day.
Well how about if I say where you are from? I do know where you're from. And I guess I can see somewhat why you would be so cautious as to not say the name of your country. Still I have no idea what it would be like living under a military government so I don't know what to say really.

hey moderator.
military govt gives us a hint.
is it true iota?
if i m guessing u right..
a few ur people came to my side recently in a s/w presentation..
organised by a world class institute !!L
they were wonderful.
u shouldn't take a sample and predict for a community.
anyway, its ur community, u hav the right to say.
bye.
errm.. well i spose we can narrow it down to a non-english speaking country, probably with a high paranoia rate
i dont really know wht hes on about though, fewer people with skills means those who do have the skills can make the money they deserve, there isnt really much money in programming compared to other jobs anyway, my teacher keeps telling me to become a systems analyst or project manager so he put me on this crappy course about project management and it was blow-your-brains-out boring but really, those who can learn it on their own probably deserve the money more
btw, any organisation is there to make money if you think about it, nothings free, even non profit orgs are there to make money for other people, its all about survival, you work to make money, to buy essentials like food, to live

Guessing the country is probably a bad idea. I was reading about it last night, very interesting. It's hard to imagine from the perspective of someone from the US.
But IT really does set countries free, yeah? I've heard lots about stenography and the such in China. It would be interesting to hear about IT experiences from places like North Korea and the like.
