Reduce the amount of imported bitmap images and/or reduce their quality (file > publish settings > flash > jpg quality)

Go easy on the audio and set the audio publish settings to 16bit, Mono.

Use a preloader that denotes how much of the movie has been loaded (like this http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Scrip...1746/index.php)
