FTP - the best?

ok, downloaded cute_ftp a while back and the demo version has expired.

i am starting to write .php scripts and i can only view them if i use my webserver for another site i designed or if i download Apache. Apache has caused me problems (maybe cos i use XP).

Can anyone suggest which FTP program is best and not too expensive and where i can get it from.

thanks

SJC

IMO WS_FTP Pro is the way to go . You can check it out here and if you like what you see, you can download it and try it the evaluation for free (until the evaluation expires of couse, at which time you have the option to purchase it) .

I second that... I've used several ftp programs and WS_FTP Pro is by far the best.

i use smartFTP, which is free, and i think open source, and it's great.

Joh6nn,

thanks for the excellent tip; i was still looking for a decent FTP client, not being very impressed with WS FTP LE (light edition, free version of Pro), so i will check it out soon. My holiday starts in about one and a half day, so plenty of time to investigate!

for just some lightweight copying of files to server, i would suggest using the inbuilt windoze, that way you dont have oodles of different windoze open on your desktop
