ellisd5 is an unknown quantity at this point
No use of < or >

How can I do the following check without using a < or >
A xml parser keeps replacing it with > and its messing up my script!
Code:
if (todaysDate > selectedDate) {
TIA
Dale

You either move the script out to a separate file (best choice), replace them with > < (which SHOULD work but doesn't in any of the browsers), or you wrap the entire script in a CDATA block:
<![CDATA[ ... ]]>
