Angry What happened to Hotmail???

Is the Hotmail service down? It's been about 2 days and I haven't been able to view my e-mail. The Messenger service works, but when I click on the link to go to my inbox, it displays a can't find server message. Just wondering if anybody else is having problems too.

No current problems with my two Hotmail accounts.

But, a friend of mine was not allowed into her Hotmail for several days last week. It kept rejecting her password. It also rejected her "secret question & answer". Upon contacting tech support, they issued her a new password, and everything worked fine. Hotmail just totally zapped her old password -- no explanation given.

Have you tried configuring your Hotmail account in Outlook Express ... just to see if that might work for you?

I finally got access to it today. Don't know what was wrong. I was thinking that they were upgrading their servers or something. But then I thought that it wouldn't take over 2 days. Well, whatever the problem was, it's solved now.

Thanks for replying!

That sounds exactly like what they would tell you if you had called tech support . I monitored tech calls for MSN for over 8 months and they never had issues, problems, etc., whenever there was a problem they were almost always upgrading something to enhance the subscribers MSN experience...lol.

Has anyone else noticed that since hotmail unveiled its pay service that you get more junk mail. I used to get 3 or 4 pieces of junk every day, but now I get closer to 20 (with the filter set at low). My friend noticed it too and I just wanted to see if it was my imagination or what...?

A friend of mine told me that Hotmail (like Yahoo) had "reset" everyone's preferences about being listed in their directory and/or subscribed to 3rd party email solicitations. I checked my "options" et al, but never saw anything out of the ordinary. I couldn't see where anything had been changed/reset. I get my fair share (15-20 per day), but I've also used the address on quite a few sites (reputable or not) for many years.

I opened a new account a while back for casual use, msn etc. Something I found strange which really got me suspicous over their possible connection to spam was the fact they give you a different type of account based on age, a no porn spam account maybe?

I've had the "Exclusive" protection, but I constantly have to click on the "This is not spam" button.

Hey everybody.
Right now, I just got done switching all of my email addresses on sites that I have signed up for. I've joined Yahoo! now. My dad told me about some of the features and I decided to join right away. One thing I like, is that you can customize your colors. Maybe not to exact specifications, but it has color schemes to choose from. This is a really nice feature.
Plus, they re-designed their service. Their mail page looks much better. It's a nicer, cleaner, layout. Looks very professional to me. And, it's very light-weight. It loads instantly on my computer (A Pentium 150 MHz with 64 MB of ram on Cable connection - Yes, it goes fast when downloading pages, but nothing like streaming video - And, yes, I will be getting a new PC soon )
Overall, Yahoo! has moved ahead of Hotmail in every aspect. I'm so sick of Microsoft programs controlling my PC. "Can't close messenger because IE is open" "Please refresh your inbox and re-click the link" "Advertisement of their 'MSN' initials by putting a frame in opened links" Total BS.
If somebody has another excellent email service, feel free to list it here. Let them SHINE!!! Death to HOTMAIL!!!

I've had my Yahoo! account for almost 2 days and I'm already satisfied. I don't see Yahoo! putting their logo in a frame on clicked addresses. Microsoft always talks about making things easier. Refreshing your message just to access a webpage isn't easier. Microsoft is so scared to allow people to close their programs, like Messenger. Doesn't seem "Easier every day" to me. It's more like "Forcing you to run and keep our programs open more every day"

Microsoft can go to h.... Well, let's not go there (We have to keep this forum clean)
