new to flash programming

I do not know where to start? But I was wondering if someone could help me, I am doing a web page for a non-profit organization, and I have said that I would get in a contest for my school to program them a web page. I wanted to put a flash picture on it. Well with a door, and the door has the intials of my school, and then the door opens it, and the name of the club comes out of the door. I did'nt know if that was possible or if flash was like any other language. If it is I do know how to program in Visual Basic, PHP, C++, HTML, Java, and Java Script. But if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it...thanks

flash isn't a langauge. you don't code flash, you design. it's like an animation/graphics studio with enaced feautres like sound, scriptability (the only coding part of it) and connectivity with other langauges such as XML/php/cold fusion (i'll assume )
