I changed my name when WA forums became codingforums, from "smeagol" to "mordred", if that's what your question is about. Since then I go by mordred and I don't plan changing that, but who knows? For me it's nothing more than a handle, a nickname, nothing more.
Lately I thought about posting with my real name and how a forum discussion would be different if everyone would be using his realname instead of fictious characters etc. Many groups on usenet have this policy, as well as forums like javaranch. I wonder why. What are your opinions on that? Would it change something to the better - or worse? I'd say it could create a more personal atmosphere around here, you could read from a first name whether a member is male or female, native english speaker etc.
