Sugestion...

I was just thinking that maybe you could add a real time chat at the bottom the the forums main page this way people could get instant answers to their questions...Also i think it would attract more people to the site which is good for getting differnt style of help on this forum...

The more times something is explained the better chance of a person reading the topic has to understand what the answer...

Hope i didnt confuse you but if you think this is a good idea say "I" and then beg the maker of this site(Sorry i dont know who you are) to make this...and if its something hard to make(i wouldnt know how to do it) then im sure we can all come together and build this Real Time Chat at the bottom of this forums page....

Thanx

I'm indifferent but I think the idea of the forum is that help is etched for eternity, nobody is harrassed to answer questions (like the mods for example) and there's less chance of the trouble that can errupt on chat.

I'd say nay as I read more than I post for help and chat may dilute the forum as a resource.

Just another way to look at that...it can be controled by the members list to the forum...This way only member of the forum can chat...

But say i need an instant answer...I can ask the chat room first...Then if noone has the answer i can goto the forum and post it as a question...

It just seams to me like there isnt much help here at one time...

I mean this forums is great and the answers i get are useful but it may take upto 3 hours on a given question just to get a reply...

Another thought is maybe we can help advertise this forum...This way there are more people signed on at all hours of the day...and so that the group is more diverse and we all can stay ahead of the technology game....

If you need an instant answer, then what you need is a paid-for tech support service. This forum is run and populated by volunteers, most of whom have precious little time anyway, many of whom give away tips and tricks they have spent many hours/days/years/dollars in learning.

Not boasting here, but I personally get regular emails from people asking me to vist a chatroom or log onto to ICQ so I can talk them through how to do something. And I always say no; it's beyond the pale of what is reasonable.

ok well so ill take that as a no...I completly understand...I was looking at this from a complet newbies point of view which i am one...

The thing is im having a really hard time with PHP and What im looking for is some better tutorials.... I'v Tryed Webmonky...Iv tryed the manual, and some other sites as well and none of them seam to be writen on an idiot level such as mine...

So i figured if i can chat live with someone they could help me as i ran into problems...

IMO i think chat is a good idea...i mean if you wish to participate then fine but if not you wouldnt have to...Im not asking for pop up messages or anything...

But like i said im new to this forum and i dont really know how things work arround here... What i do know tho is that at one pint in time this board had upto 69 members on at a time which would be great to get questions answered....

but heres another way to look at it... How do i post a specific question ona certain topic if i dont even know what the question is...

This forum is not like others iv been to such as CarAudioForums.com The way they work is you scratch my back i scratch yours...They will answer any question imediatly even if they dont have the full answer...

Here it seams the only questions that get answered are java related and are mostly coding problems...

This board has potential but lacks in some areas

1) - Post it where you think it should go, if its in the wrong forum, it will be moved to the appropriate one, not something you'l be reprimanded for.

2) - Is that a good thing? Would you rather get an incorrect answer immediately, or a good, complete answer you have to wait a bit for?

3) - Java? We have very few Java questions here. I'm guessing you mean JavaScript. Completely different from one another.

4) - Your opinion, which you're entitled to. But my opinion is that this is one of the best forums of its kind you'll find anywhere on the Internet.

infact i think it may be one of the only forums of its kind because iv tryed to look other places for help and they really just dont exist...I meant there are a few forums like this set up but they only have 10 members at max.. And yes i ment JavaScript i just said java cause i thought this was a Forum about scripts and it would have been assumed JavaScript... So i havent learned the lingo yet
