Installing more than one version of IE

I'm building a testing CD with a number of different browsers on it and would like to install IE 4.x. I can't seem to do this as it recognizes the IE 6 already installed on my hard drive.

Is there anyway to install more than one version of IE and still maintain the integrity (or lack of it) in that particular version?

Cheers

It is supposed to be possible to have IE4 and IE5 on the same machine, but I've never succeeded. Windows/IE is not really an application, it's just a shell extension with a few interpretors loaded in. As far as windows is concerned, IE is part of windows.

What I do is use Virtual PC software called VMWare - http://www.vmware.com - so I end with multiple OSs in discreet windows; very useful - indepensible in fact. Since it can run any x86 OS, it means I can have a Linux box as well

"quote...Internet Explorer: You can have only one version installed. There are several ways to work around this. One work-around, if you have a PC with IE4, is to install IE5 with an optional 'IE4 compatibility mode' that is good enough for testing sites for IE4 compatibility. Another work-around, if you have a large disk drive, is to install multiple versions of Windows - each with its own version of IE - in separate disk partitions, and to use a multi-boot manager to select which version you want to boot up. In many cases, however, it is simpler to buy a cheap used PC for testing with an older version of Internet Explorer...endquote"
