Deleting Frontpage-created web folders?

I've never used FrontPage or any other program that automatically creates HTML. Therefore, I was entirely baffled by folders created in a web site (I volunteer for this organization) that seemed to contain duplicates of files under the main directory: _derived, _private, _vti_cnf, _vti_pvt, _vti_script, and _vti_txt.

Through a search engine, I discovered it's FrontPage's web folders and read through the extensions that each folder contains.

Since FrontPage has been replaced by Notepad and an FTP client to update the web site, would deleting these folders have any repercussions?

Thanks

The only reason all those _vti and _private folders are there is to allow FP to talk to your website (scan for new files etc). If you aren't using it, you don't need them.
