Could this web design be improved?

Greetings,

I have earlier made some design changes to my website. The change was to replace most of the images with cross-browser CSS -- thankfully it works after hours of testing. The website's purpose is to provide folks with free stuff for their computer or website. The design is to be easily read by the general audience and with straightforward navigation. I'm not too sure if there are any other parts that could improve the layout. I would appreciate any suggestions.

For starts you could really use some graphics. People look at a site and want the pictures to tell them what the site is about right away with out any words ever being read to start off.

The menu could be jazzed up by doing something like a fade effect.

You could also add little icons along site the different menu topics along the side of the website.

Lots of different menu options out there and worth while to explore your options to make it stand out more.

Thanks for the suggestions. I can look into adding icons and graphics that might fit in well with the navigation.

I suppose a text twitter widget could also fit in the top right corner of the black-gradient bar. Something neat like a bird with a speech bubble.
