Need Help with an Idea for Eye Tracking

Hi all,

This is my first post on the forums here, but I was hoping to pick your guys' brains about a program I am hoping to develop. I am still going through the logistics of the actual application of the program, but it is basically an eye-detection software. What I mean by that is an application that can detect the eyes of person looking at the screen, and record the amount of time that their eyes stay in contact with the screen. Interface-wise, it would be an image of either a person, or a picture of mountains, nature, ect... But the main idea is timing kids looking at the screen of a tablet. Measuring how long someone "remains eye contact" with either a picture or a face.

Is this too ambitious? Where should I begin? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
