Let me start off by saying that I know a lot of people come onto these forums and talk about their new games and how they're going to be the best. This post is for people who are serious about making a game that may attract hundreds of thousands of players. This post is for the ones who are really going to sit down for hours upon hours, and complete task given to them, this is for the people who want to take their coding to the next level.
If you're that person, then continue reading, if not, then this will do you no good.
The game is Explurse, it's a 3D/text based space strategy game that will be built in the browser. Part of it is already built, and I'll get to that later.
Explurse is truly revolutionary, and you'll see why.
There are so many other games out right now that are just garbage, they're bad and their developers never put much thought into their game. The top 2 games in the genre are Ogame, and Astro Empires. Most other games are just a copy of one of these 2. People think that setting higher speeds and giving players endless resources will make a better game, or that releasing server after server will keep their dieing game alive just a little longer. I am not one of those people, and Explurse is not one of those games.
Explurse is an an empire builder, something that other games claim to be, but what are those other games really? What do you actually end up doing on those games? Everything you work for in these other games always ends up being about the same thing, making your "fleet" or military stronger to attack other players and profit. Where is the empire building? Surely there's more to building an empire then just ships. This is what Explurse is about, showing the other side of the genre, showing what it CAN be, and taking the entire genre to the next level.
Explurse is more then just a game, it's an entirely new universe with an author writing a very long and deep story line, it has concept art being worked on and many other thing happening, but as great as this all sounds, we have 2 coders, and we need more.
The main things I'll reveal about the game at this point is that planets will be proceduraly generated and 3D, they'll have realistic features you can see real-time, such as lightning and massive sand storms.
The small portion of the game that is currently up is....in bad shape, and is written in Javascript and Python. We'll most likely just end up trashing that and start fresh. This game has a long and interesting history, and I don't want to get into it. That's all irrelevant now.
At this moment, I'm forming the "core" team, the coders who are actually going to own part of the company, and by extension the game. Those who join now will be part of the core team, however, everyone will sign a contract that states that if at any point you fail to do the job detailed in the contract that you will lose your share of the company, so don't think you can just join and get part of it and then not do anything.
Explurse is taking things to the next level, and after Explurse, there will be other games, that we will all be making while sitting comfortably in our own game studio. I'm looking for serious coders who have the skill, time, and dedication o take on a project this large. We have a nice development plan written up that will allow developers of all time zones some flexibility. We will not rush the game, you will get breaks, and you will get more then a fair amount of time to complete a task.
