Install/Package Manger

Hi,

I would like to add a install/package manager to something I am working on my the SMF, Wordpress etc...

Where you upload a .zip file and it unzip it and edit the files to install it.

But I haven't a clue where to start or search for any code tips/ideas, on how to do this.

So does anyone have any code tips or where I can look to get a head start.

Maybe here: http://www.php.ca/manual/en/book.zip.php? PHP also has the phar archives. I personally like phar since you don't need to ever extract them if you don't want to (and can also be configured to execute as an entire web app). I haven't put a lot of work into learning the phar; I worked up to the "that suits my purposes" and never went any further on it.
