Java or PHP?

Hi

I just started learning java to make a website last week.
Now I'm googling across the net and forums, and everyone seems to be recommending php. I looked at stats and java use is way down compared to php, I looked in job websites and there are more php jobs.

Is there a technical reason why I should be considering php in 2013 as opposed to java?

I have done a little java before, but I do have some php books here too.

You are making a website? In Java? Why? PHP is much better suited for making websites.

If you want an enterprise-level corporate job, then yeah you should definitely become a Java expert. Java is everywhere at that level.

Java and PHP are very different, and they are also very much the same. If you want to create one simple or good looking website so PHP is best, but if you want to use in Flash effect so Java has good features for that.

Some Difference between Java and PHP.
Java is now a key infrastructure for many web applications.ava applications are compiled to an intermediate bytecode which is run by a virtual machine.
PHP was born in the same year, and it was instead specifically created for the web, as a server-side scripting language to embed in html pages.
