Windows 8 accounts

I will shortly be purchaseing a new PC with Windows 8 pre-installed.

Could you please tell me how it will be set up as far as User Accounts are concerned and what I need to do to access all the computer files, apps etc?

The thing is that I will be the only user of the PC so can I get by with just an Administrator Account or do I have to make a Standard Account?

All help much appreciated

ShaneC is on a distinguished road
You'll likely want an Administrator account on the machine. During your first out-of-box experience, you'll be prompted for user account information.

During setup, the account you're being prompted for is an Administrator account. You'll have the ability to make a local account (your traditional account type, like in Windows 7 and prior) or to tie this local profile to your Microsoft account. I highly encourage you use a Microsoft account in order to set the machine up as this provides additional security benefits and lights up some great features in the operating system.

Many thanks Shane.

I only want an Administrator account as I and my wife will be the only ones using the new computer, so I will not want a local account.

I have click on the Thank You button for you.

Windows 8 is the first version of Windows designed to make sense of the way we use the internet these days. If you want, you can set up a Windows account the way you're used to and ignore all the new features. Or you can use a Microsoft account Xbox Live, Hotmail, SkyDrive, Windows Messenger or any of the other Microsoft services you use as your Windows account, which the Windows installer makes the first suggestion.

But can you change your mind afterwards and change accounts.
