Question How should I start my existance on this site

I am now new here, I've found this site after a long time game making partnership broke down due to a certain level of... incompatibilities arose. I was the Designer/Concept Artist/Artist while he did the code work.

I came here in hopes of finding another partnership, and no I am aware of the Partnerships sub-forum. Instead I am making a topic to gather data on the community here itself and how it operates in regards to these issues.

What kinds of things are generally expected of me before I can get results and get some ideas actually made into existence within this world.

I am currently draw up new concept art for an Idea and getting simple parts of the design rolling and my understanding of programming tends to both pick up and end at the logic side of things, which means if you can explain something logically with real words I can probably get a level of understanding of it.

Just need to get a feel for this place so I don't start off on a really bad foot and ruin any chance of realizing creations.

Oh and I will state what may already be noticed, I have a weird speech pattern, just kinda pretend things I say make sense and they will. Or ask me to clarify the odd unsure portions. I type in a manner that I speak, it's a bad habit.

As I said, this isn't about starting a partnership, I already am aware of that sub-forum. I was inquiring the general requirements for this site before a post or poster is generally taken seriously. I stated this in the initial post.

All posters and thread starters are taken seriously. If you ask a question, it will be answered as long as you as you follow some unwritten common sense rules.

Off course having a higher rep has its advantages and you'll find out if you use the forum often.

I simply ask to become aware of certain taboos should they exist.

I've been to many forums in which posts pertaining to certain subjects can instantly drain any chances of making successful inquiries or requests.

Much as how I tell people when it comes to showing me their work I tend to ask for a broad portfolio that gives an example of the full depth of styles of work they can successfully complete rather then what most people show me being maybe one or two of their work that tend to be rather similar.

I assumed certain quality requirements would also be common for posters of this forum to achieve in order to attain a positive standing.

Just being thorough before I make a fool of myself in a later post.

Taboos...I think you're talking about StackOverflow where questions have to be in a Q an A format and be very specific. This is a forum, just ask what you need answered but at least in the appropriate sub-forum.

If you are asking for maybe a developer or something, if you need a portfolio with breadth, highlight it and insist on it. Put the conditions that somebody would have to meet to request the job. Be specific in your questions or requests.

I'm not sure what the StackOverFlow thing you mention is. I'm guessing at a sort of biographical 20 questions?

And just be unmistakably specific, I can definitely try to stick to that, I do have a tendency to make some rather remarkable confusing statements from time to time.

Normally I'm used to walking into a forum and seeing instantly seeing something along the lines of "That guy, don't be that guy." or something to that nature.

If there arn't any such landmines then that's fine I suppose. I can be rather specific in my requirements of others, that's no issue. Just wondered if any such thing would be equally demanded of me.

Though I suppose that answer may indeed be different for many.

Hopefully I knock out some of the Concept Art and get started here soon then, thank you.

I would say don’t worry so much. You’re not getting anywhere if you always worry about every little detail. Just go and ask your question. Either it will be answered or it won’t. And if it won’t that’s not the end of the world.
