May someone explain to me how Polymorphism work?

I'm working on a homework problem, but I don't know what to do...

I read the chapter for polymorphism online, but I don't quite understand how it works...

Could someone explain to me about polymorphism? or some sort of example would be great...

Sorry, but I'm very new to Java
