Technology...

I got to thinking about technology and where mankind is headed. Then all of the sudden, questions flooded my mind. Questions like "How much technological advancement is needed before man will be satisfied?", "Why has our technology gotten too powerful for our own good? (New York Times, Oct 3rd, "Last Nuclear Threat"...or something)?", "Why can't we make a uptopia?", Why does technology have to be advanced in the wrong directions", and "Does a man have the ability to destroy a technology that he developed and only he knows about due to the fact that although it is a great breakthrough, it is incredibly easy to use for the wrong purposes?"

Any thoughts?

man will never be satisfied, there will always be a need for more advancement. And the phrase "can't we all just get along" will never work when it comes to everyone working together for a common good technology like populating a new planet or something. There are just to many people that are influenced by money. And we can never get rid of the most powerful technologies like nuclear bombs cause then countries would feel to much pressure from insecurity. Ehh, lost my train of thought....must continue later...

Ben, there's a german play, called "die Physiker" (the Physicists). http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books . you should be able to get a copy from a larger library, and if not, it's only $10 from Amazon. I can't attest to the quality of the translation, unfortunately; i saw it performed in German, but the play answers your questions wonderfully, and hopefully, the translation is true to the original.
