Computer science student

Hey everyone, I am going into the computer science degree option at my school. I was wandering if there is a tablet available that will allow computer programming? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Any computer will be fine. Focus on RAM and a good processor. Get a decent sized hard drive so you can install the software you will be working with. Put VM Player on it so you can try different OSs.

Invest in an external hard drive to move VMs and other work around.

Redcoder has a little shameless behaviour in the past
A tablet would probably only substantially help you in writing code on a lightweight text editor while on the go then uploading it to an online server through FTP or whatever method you use. (Thats for Web Development).

As for college courses, you'll mostly be introduced using Java, C++ , Python or any other languages depending on your college. You cannot compile into native code (e.g for C++) using a tablets as far as I know. You should probably invest in a Laptop (for portablity) with enough RAM and processsing for a local server such as Apache(for web Developement) and VM's as suggested above and off course power conservative/long-lasting battery.

ShaneC is on a distinguished road
As the others have indicated, a laptop might be your best bet.

If you're still interested in a tablet, you may want to check out the Microsoft Surface Pro, or any of the Windows 8 transformer-books (tablet/laptop combos).
