downloading zip files- how??

Hello,

I am using a program that allows you to create your own screensavers. It will also zip the whole thing once it is created.

What I want to do is offer this screensaver on my website as a free download. I thought uploading the zip file to my site and then linking to it was all that was needed so that when someone clicked on the link the zip download would start automatically.

But I'm not a programmer so what do I know?! It didn't work and I don't know how to make it work.

Help!.... please

You just link to it just as you said... they follow the link they download the file. If you want you could put a message asking the user to right-click => save target but really it makes little difference.

I don't know if this solution would work for you, but it worked for me. In the link, you have to capitalize the .ZIP part for it to download automatically. Again, I'm not sure if you have the same problem, but that's how I solved a similar problem I had with downloading zip files.

the program that I use to create the screensavers creates both a zip file and a .exe file. When I link to the .exe file it downloads when clicked on so I just went with that. Thanks everyone for your help.
