My first ever attempt - Website critique please

I am a complete novice and this is my first ever website attempt:
http://www.outwoodsparishcouncil.co.uk
It's a freebie for our local parish.
Please let me know what you think and where I could improve things, thanks.

myfayt can only hope to improve
One thing I have to say is, get rid of that lotto number picker. It's not right for a religion website.

Hey justinme,

On the first view your site looks good, you should change the header make the logo bigger and also the image below navigation is streched and you can't understand a thing from it. You should change the colors to more live colors, the ones that you have on the site are just doll. Learn some css and play around with colors and fonts.

It looks like a great website, but the image below the navigation bar makes no sense. I can't understand it. The overall look makes it seem like an old person site though, just too plain, make it a bit more exciting (not too exciting though). The general layout of the website looks great though. Very easy to navigate to what you are looking for.

Hi, Thank you the feedback its much appreciated. The picture is a stretched view of the Parish the website belongs too so the local people will recognise it well and most of them are in their 50's. I was a bit stuck for colours though. What colours would you recommend? Thanks, Ian.

Keep the texture of the background, but change the color to maybe a somewhat dark green, along with the navigation bar

alykins will become famous soon enough
idk if it has already been changed since last post... regardless- I like the color that is on there now for the background. It matches your navigation color (#999966). The one thing that does seem odd-out of place... the web-clock... Just my opinion... People will either have a clock on their machine their browsing with, or have it disabled for a reason... the clock ticking away (to me) is really distracting. It kept making me want to check what time it was and what time it was wherever this place is WRT to me, pulling from the meaning of the site.... again, just my opinion

Thank you, all opinions are subjective but never the less important to me as a beginner. I must say having played with it today I think the colour as is looks ok. Not so sure about the clock?

krome has a little shameless behaviour in the past
This looks good for your first.

To me the color skeem looks dull. Liven it up with
more lively background colors. This background
color makes me think of militant army.

Thats the only thing I see. I like the template.
