How do they do that?

I am the owner of quite a popular, but new font archive site. And through my thorough searching around the web sites, I have come across an online font veiwer, that is run by PHP and allows users to type in their sample text and the PHP scripting will show the text as an image using the text they typed in. Is this is available to buy or are webmasters developing these themselves?

I am quite an expert at HTML, can cut+copy and semi understand alot of javascript, even understand the basic's of CGI/Perl. But PHP is completely new and I will be getting familiar with it ASAP.

If anyone can help me out for the time being, I would be very grateful.

You can use PHP's built in GD fuctions to achieve this or the ImageMagick libraries which are normally available on most decent hosts, in saying that I have not a clue how the fonts are stored on the server although I can think of at least 2 regulars who are pretty hot with the image creation possibilites provided by or accesible via PHP& I am sure they will help out

As a side note if you are comfortable with PERL there is an imageMagic module for PERL, whether your host has that installed is a good question to ask them.
