Flickr has copyright matters so you should ask them before copying.

Wedding photos?

YES. Even if a photographer doesn't have a "package" that you want, most of them will work with you and cater a special package to your needs. Remember YOU are hiring THEM, YOU tell THEM what you want!! Some photographers are sticklers about their prices, but keep shopping around!

I was just thinking that when I saw it in the list, do you have to ask flickr or the user that upoaded the image?

Do link back to Flickr when you post your Flickr content elsewhere.
Flickr makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to other web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr. This provides a way to get more information about the content and the photographer.

The reason for this is a photographer that's shooting for Getty etc will be trying to recoup the costs of model hire, location, lighting, probably some support staff, and all those hidden costs that are associated with photography. If you hire a photographer and model and go to the trouble of finding a location, getting permission to shoot there if required, hiring some extra equipment (maybe a power generator for example) you'd quickly spend thousands getting one or two shots...so the cost of using a stock image - even if it's £600-700 for many corporate budgets is simply a no-brainer.

Getty shots do tend to be of a certain calibre that the microstock sites simply struggle to match, that said there are some really good images on the likes of iStock etc etc, but the chances are if they're good, they've been used several times before by competitors...

Getty is good as well at niche images - things that are a little different and against the usual run-of-the-mill...like everything "you get what you pay for"

A great resource if you're looking for stock texture photography is http://wojtar-stock.deviantart.com. I use his textures in most things I do.
