Wordpress Template Fail Need New Blog

I am trying to help this nonprofit/movement and I dislike the blog and I cant figure out how to change the java coding or any aspect of the HTML to fix it to the way I want. Instead of posting the script I rather take you to the page and show you the one I want and then ask some suggests.

Page I dislike and need to change: http://readacrossca.org/#!/category/...cross-ca-blog/

I want to change it to show the whole blog post on that page like a normal blog. You know the one's where the reader can actual read the whole post then comment? Yeah that easy one but I cant figure out where to go through Wordpress or to change this template.

I dislike templates (this template is by elegant themes and is called sky) sooo much, thanks for the help!

The first thing I would suggest is to look through the theme's options. Many themes have options you can change, such as to display full posts instead of excerpts. I haven't worked with this particular theme, so I'm not sure what options are available. Many themes will create a new menu item within WordPress for setting different options for the theme.

If there aren't any built-in options in the theme for changing how the home page is displayed, then the next route would be to modify the theme. The preferred way to do this is to create a "Child Theme", which allows you to make customizations without changing the theme itself. That way you can update the original theme without overriding your customizations.

The file usually used for the home page is index.php. Sometimes you'll find there isn't a lot in there and it's pulling in stuff from other files via includes, especially with some of the "framework" type themes. If you can tell from the code what other files it's pulling in, it might point you in the right direction.

So I'd say explore the theme's options first and if that doesn't work, it may be necessary to make some customizations to how the the theme works.

Hopefully this at least points you in the right direction.

How about finding a new template (WordPress theme)?
I agree with you that the current theme is not a good theme for that site.
The sliding navigation and layout is very annoying and distracting.

I suggest that you find a WordPress Book Club Theme ... something like these:
http://www.google.com/search?q=wordp...es&btnG=Search

Make it easy to search, and easy for users to review books.

You can even add a MOBI section for eBook readers (Nook, Kindle, Etc).
