Okay, I don't need to uninstall anything to run the WAMP do I? It works in conjunction with Apache?

Before you do anything, if you open a terminal/command prompt and enter:

Code:
dir c:\server\php\
What do you get (copy/paste listing here)

I don't see "php5apache2_2.dll" in there!

Back in post 24 I asked you:

Quote:
Does C:/server/php/php5apache2_2.dll exist?
You said
Quote:
"Yes, both of those exist"
But the listing shows it does not.
Code:
03/02/2012 04:52 PM <DIR> pear
03/06/2006 02:10 PM 2,523 php.gif
03/02/2012 05:04 PM 66,860 php.ini
02/08/2012 03:12 PM 66,883 php.ini-production
09/26/2007 10:44 AM 1,489 php5.spec.in
09/26/2007 10:44 AM 1,570 README.EXTENSIONS
06/19/2008 12:59 PM 6,249 README.EXT_SKEL
If you do a search of your system with the 'find' command for "php5apache2_2.dll" does it find it anywhere at all? You did follow that tutorial word for word?

Installing WAMP over PHP components will only lead to confusion. If you are going to do that, remove the old stuff first - but I think you can fix this.

This is the PHP source you have downloaded. To use it, you'd need to compile it first.
Let me download and install the 5.4 first here. I noticed these are all compiled in VC9 which doesn't usually play well with apache, but I'll give you an update after I install it.

I think the tutorial Tony has been following is flawed. It links to this for the PHP:

http://windows.php.net/downloads/rel...32-VC6-x86.zip

but the link is dead.

Not sure if the link was good when he started, or if he got PHP from somewhere else in the end.

I'm not good with Windows Fou-Lu, so thank you for jumping back in. Appreciated.

Okay, I did a search for it and it doesn't show up at all anywhere. I followed what the tutorial said to do word for word but apparently I've missed something. I do apologize and am still very grateful for the help.

Don't beat yourself up about it my friend, it's no big deal.

Where did you download your PHP package from, as the link on the page of that tutorial is dead. Do you still have the file? Can you share the name of it?

Fou-lu has spotted that the package is the PHP source code, not the built binary version. Did you, by any chance, download the wrong version from somewhere else?

And I just now realized I probably downloaded the wrong one. What a day. I downloaded the one that says. PHP 5.4.0 (tar.gz) [14,111Kb] - 01 March 2012 when I probably should have went to the windows binaries link at the bottom.

Fou-lu is spot on. At the top of that page it reads "Complete Source Code"
There is a link further down that page for Windows Binaries:

http://windows.php.net/download/

I'd hazard a guess that your best option would be the fourth grey box down. PHP 5.3 thread safe installer:

http://windows.php.net/downloads/rel...32-VC9-x86.msi

But I can't promise it. Just make sure it ends up installing to c:\server\php and see how that works after a restart.

Just to be on the safe side I am going to ask this question. Do I need to delete the php folder from C:\server\php?

I probably would delete the contents, but not the folder.

Alright, contents of that folder are gone and the windows binary package has been downloaded. After your permission, I am going to install the package, restart and try it out.
