Freelance is an unknown quantity at this point
Question Ruby on Rails!!!!

What is this used for? I recently learned about PHP and remember some freelancers mentioning Ruby on Rails. Can anyone summarize on why and where is this used?

Appreciate it!

Thanks

Do the one you are most comfortable with, because that will end up making you a better programmer (and more valuable when RoR jobs become available).

If you are strictly looking in terms of job opportunities, then PHP would be the way, but it may not be the one you will enjoy more.

I agree, you don't need to learn Ruby on Rails, just because someone else is using it. Of course they will be the advocate of what they use themselves. Just learn PHP, learn PHP classes, etc. It's more than enough for most basic projects, and even complex ones!
