How do I contact someone here privately. I know who I want to contact. But don't see the IM in there profile.

It isn't a button. It's a tab, the grayish tab to the right.

It might be possible that the user has disabled the option to contact them in private here. And charisma44, this is a public forum which isn’t there to ask people for help privately. If you have a general question ask it in the forum, even if a specific user has helped you with a problem before.
