HTML Email - Hiding info from desktop view issue

Hi, I am currently developing a html email using media queries so it can be viewed on a desktop and a moblie device.
The issue i'm having is that I would like to show some content on a moblie device (iPhone), but not in the desktop view. I have tried using [{display:none;}] which works in all email clients except gmail and outlook.
Then I tried using [{display:none !important;}] which worked in gmail and outlook, but it hid the content on the iPhone.
Does anyone how to (if I can) fix this problem?
