Thumbs up An avatar creator

Hello, I'm just looking for some general direction. I've used actionscript/flash before but am in no way an expert in it, I'm wanting to make a flash widget that can create custom avatars. The method being, for example, we have a base head image, and on the we will allow users to add elements to the head (eyes, mouth, nose) all from individually created images.

So multiple images would layer on each other to create a "character", could anyone describe in general how something like this could be accomplished so we know we're to start

And any advise or tips would be appreciated.

It depends on how complex or creative you avatar creator will be. If it is just simple with a few choices you could store all your facial assets in flash then just call them from the library or if a bit more complex you could use xml and load your facial assets into flash when required.

Cammy is an unknown quantity at this point
Put all the images in the library and have an interface which displays all the images, then make it so you can drag the images over each other.
