Advice on door to door promotion.

I plan on handing out my business card (design has received very positive reactions so far) at businesses but I feel like I need something to go with it. Something like a letter with my signature but I'm having a hard time writing one. I'm going to start with lawyers offices and realtors.

Any advice and links to template letters or something similar? I don't have letterhead.

bcarl314 will become famous soon enough
You need a pitch, first.

If you just walk in and drop a business card, you might as well just drop it in the trash. You'll need to introduce yourself and have a 30 second "elevator" pitch to give them.

Once you get past that, then you should have some literature to give them and to discuss you services, the LAST thing you give them is a business card.

That said, pay attention to the "no solicitors" signs. When you see one of those, keep a little notebook and write down the address, names, and phone numbers, and call or mail them your info. Otherwise you could get into trouble.
