Question browser-based HTML editing

I'm just wondering if there is any way that you can program a page where a user can input text in an input box in the browser that updates the text in a different HTML page. For instance, a user has a main page that has a section where they post a quote, journal entry, comment, etc. in plain text each day, but the user doesn't know HTML. Could the programmer of the user's page set up a internet page where all the user has to do is type his update in a text box in one page, hit update, and it updates the text in the main page of his web page. Is this hard? Does anyone have any idea if this is possible or if there is code for this? Am I even in the right section for asking this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is possible but it requires a server-side language such as PHP, ASP, PHP, JSP, PHP, or Perl. PHP would work well too.

Ok back to this. Post the form you are planning on using that is going to contain the updates and maybe a sample HTML file that is suppose to be updated.

And mabye elaborate a bit more. Do you want the user to be able to open the source of the HTML file in a textarea, make changes and then save it? Or are they just updating certain areas of content of that HTML file?
