looking at the source code can anyone tell me how show/hide tab contents mechanism is being implemented?

is there a better way to do it?

lol. Isn't there a simpler script to achieve the same thing? I don't know any JS! I was keen to learn but the referenced scripts are very long and involved:

Maybe there's an easier place to start off? A simpler script achieving the same thing maybe?

How about using a javascript framework like jquery? See http://jqueryui.com/demos/tabs/
You don't have to worry about the complexities of the back end script.
