You make a regular screenshot, open that image in a graphic editor, and then resize it to be as small as you want.
Alternatively, you make a screenshot of the page, open it in a graphic editor, but just cut out a part of the site (as, e. g. with the Top Chef thumbnail on the page you linked to), and resize it to your liking.
That's exactly what I tried this mrning and doesn't work, I tried uisn the keyboard's printscreen and also the Fireshot software to capture my browser's screen, then opened it in Irfanview, resized down to 208x80 and it the image is not clear?
Nice way to sharp them. But there is a better way, which you can also use for photos.
1. switch to ‘Lab Color’ (Image > Mode > Lab Color)
2. select the channels and deselect the ‘a’ and ‘b’ channel
3. go to Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask … and fill in:
Amount : 90 %
Radius: 1.0
Threshold: 5
(for close-up photos I prefer: 60%, 3.0, 1)
4. switch back to RGB Color (Image > Mode > RGB Color) and you are done

Just tried it in PS CS5, I don't see any difference, I am thinking this is because since I took the snapshot of the site and resized down then there's nothing much you can do? See image below
Mike, the site you linked to as example isn’t using entire screenshots but only a part of them (as explained in my alternative description). For example the “Top Chef” thumbnail (third one in first row) is just the small section below the big blue “restaurant finder” headline on http://www.bravotv.com/top-chef/restaurant-finder.
The “Poppy Appeal” thumbnail is not the entire page from top to bottom but only the top part down until the end of the phone. The “Mohawk Fine Papers” thumbnail is an even smaller section out of the middle of the home page.
You see, it’s not just taking a screenshot and then sizing down the entire thing, it is about being creative with the screenshots and displaying the important, relevant parts on a thumbnail size.
Yes, it does look a little better this way but still not as clear at that small size as in the link, take a look at the attached image, it is bigger than that of the images in the link but still not as clear, maybe I am not doing the instructions right in PS?
How do you get all pics resized to exact same dimensions? Using irfanview when I type in the width, the height changes accordingly and vice versa, is there any way I can use any software and set the exact width and height sizes independently of an image?
