Creating the MySQL database is the first step.
2) Create a PHP script to put items into the database.
3) Create a PHP script to query it and display results.

Sounds simple? no ... it's going to be a huge project for a noobie.

Google has all of the free PHP/MySQL tutorials. Knock yourself out.
