.img files not showing

Hi,

My website contain images file in (.img) format and HTML pages are using to display these images using <img src=tazhas.img> tag.
The site works perfect from last 4 years, but suddenly a day ago it is not showing the images which have .img extenssion.
I checked every aspect but did'nt find solution.
Images with .gif are showing normally but .img files shows as CROSS (X) in almost all web browsers, even when i host my website in desktop PC to check the issue, its not showing .img files in <IMG> tag.

Can anybody help?

I dont have any idea how to retrieve them but i suggest that you might look for the tutorial on youtube how to retrieve the image files. Outsourcing Software Testing

Not sure what .img format is, you should probably convert them to .png/.jpeg/.gif

IMG is a file format for disc images (essentially file systems). I have no idea where you dragged these from. Changing to the true extension of the picture will probably solve the issue.

these .img files are MAC files, these files open and shows perfect in ACDSee and other graphic softwares, Even in browser

but not showing in a page when called with <IMG> tag

Just because they are Mac file extensions does not mean they should be used for web pages. The format is not recommended and not recogized by many browsers.

as i mentioned, the files work well from last years.
recently the web host has upgraded their server and the site went into trouble.

there are almost 800 .img files on website, and changing them is a long process, also have to change the inline HTML codes

May have worked for you, but not for people using other browsers on a Mac. Firefox displayed ONE image (tazhas_dark_image_1152.gif) on that link you gave. One image with a "broken path":

File Extension IMG

Disk image used to mount a file system; can be mounted like a disk drive (e.g., an external hard drive), or an optical disc (e.g., a CD or DVD); stored on the hard drive, but is recognized as a disc or hard disk when mounted by the computer.

IMG files were used by Mac OS 9 and earlier versions of the Mac OS; they have been replaced in Mac OS X by the newer .DMG disk image format. NOTE: In some cases, renaming an IMG file's extension from ".img" to ".iso" allows other programs to open the file.

The .img extension is used by MANY graphics programs, but not browsers on a Mac.

IMG files will certainly not display on Windows, even if you had some luck in browsers. It's pointless to keep them. The best thing to have done in the beginning is just save to an appropriate file format, such as PNG or JPEG.
