I don't think it's appropriate to have a forum here dedicated to a single product; that's the vendors' responsibility.

Just IMO.

normally I'd agree with you but the popularity of it is huge and the number of folks that download it per day just means it's gonna get more popular.
Well, mods probably agree with you, had to try though

That's to specific, and I think it would end up as a forum with much threads but few answers. In the past, questions concerning Nuke in the PHP forum were hard to answer if you are not familiar with the Nuke codebase. Response was also quite low in these threads.
Why are there no coders hanging around in postnukes forums?

postnuke is sorta in the same line as front page, ease of use little use for code. But folks like me see this and wanna do all sorts of things to it.
There's just a handful of folks like that

Well, this is hard to say, but there's a flip side - people who volunteer their time to help others want something in return. Obviously I can only speak for myself, but what I want is interesting discussions, which stem from interesting questions.

I almost never answer questions that say "I downloaded script X from site Y and I want it to do Z"

I'm far more likely to answer questions that say "how would I write a method to do Z"

I'm a bit discriminatory when it comes to what I answer to, myself. I like discussions, but I also like when paople are either trying to learn how something they don't understand works, or when they are trying to learn how to do something, and have tried to write it, but haven't gotten it to work no matter what they have tired. I'm far less interested in responding to 'can you make this script to blah instead of blah' or 'how do you do this?' when they haven't tried to learn how to do it by examining the code, or tried to replicate the functionality themselves.

Oh, and I have a tendency to preach about what I believe is right and wrong...

Hi:
As PostNuke is a specific product, I can't envision adding a category just for it. I too like the forum to be about coding in general, and not turn into a support place for script requests or how to get a specific product to work. The two audiences are very different, and I'm trying to get CF to carter to the former.

Dang - that spoils my plans for dumping the support load from my menu script onto CF
