Exclamation jQuery/GalleryView page load time issue

I really need some help

http://www.danadoumani.com/portfolio-res.htm (6-10 sec load right now)

I can't figure out how to get:
1) the page to load faster
2) at least the loading graphic (loader.gif) to load right away so users know something's coming...

I have found the following links that may help, but have no idea how to incorporate them with the GalleryView script I've employed...

http://www.appelsiini.net/projects/lazyload
http://www.filamentgroup.com/lab/upd...s_with_jquery/
http://hungred.com/how-to/preload-jquery/

We've also tried optimizing the images to make them lighter on the server... the thumbnails are auto cropped from the images... and I don't know how to fix that either (or if that would help).

Many thanks,
B

try this first, the thumbs are

723px × 484px (scaled to 120px × 80px)

try making seperate thumbs with photoshop and save for web.

Thanks Seco!

I know I'm about to ask an idiot question but the GalleryView Script is auto scaling, might you know what code I have to change to point the script to the thumbs and what code I need to add to the html to have it call for the thumbs?

If yes, thank you in advance!

it is... I just have one set of images in the gallery folder & the script makes the thumbs from them with a crop command... I'm happy to create the thumbs, just not sure how to change the script...
