Sorry, you didn’t catch the sarcasm! I was trying to suggest that you come up with a 3rd option in a witty way. To be honest I think the second is better but it needs a lot.

#1 is alot more fun.

#2 is alot more professional.

I think it depends entirely on the focus of the site.

I do not like the coloring for #1, looks unprofessional.
#2 has nice gradients and makes it look like you pay attention to details.

Bah! All business and no fun leaves me looking for an original pun...

Anyway, I don't like the discussion about what looks more professional. Seriously, who says you can not have a "fun" looking website that isn't professional all the same? Ever seen brothercake's site? It isn't comprised of the clean grey tones that have become the norm of this day and age, yet it is one of the most profesional sites I have ever seen. Oh and might I add that it is fun too?

I personally like #1 better. #2 is too dull for me. All those greys (how do you spell that word?!?! grey or gray!?! argh!) are too clean for me. It's like a gap store without any colored clothing, I don't think I could handle that! Plus, it's what everyone is doing. Originallity is more professional than vogue[ness?].

If you can make #1 into a very nicely functional site, then you will be impressing everyone with an original site, with nice colors, and great functionality. #1 has a lot more potential. Though there are still some things to be fixed. But as of now, I would go with #1.

Just my 2¢. (yeah for alt + 0162!)
