Music and video with a play button - bearing cross browser compatibiltiy in mind??

Hi all, I've been asked to make some 100% flash sites more accessible (using html/css and a bit of javascript to replicate the look and feel)

I need to add music to the sites, and videos. Please see www.iamsamsmith.com (the music and video sections) for an example of how this would need to work.

Can anyone direct me to the best way to replicate this, bearing cross browser compatibility in mind? (eg using javascript or similar rather than flash)

thanks for the help!

Emma

You could design the site in xhtml & css, and still use flash for sound and video streaming. A good example is the ilike.com website. When you click to play a song, it actually communicates with a flash file that is not visible on the page (by using flashvars).

You could also use jQuery for animation and/or other tasks:

Hope this helps
