To all thread starters, check your "pm" box for responses, as that's how bidders will be communicating with you mainly using. You can turn on new pm notification by going to "User CP"-> "Edit Options"-> "Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages".
To respondents, avoid replying to a thread with a short generic response like "pm sent" as much as possible. It is pointless and clutters up the screen.
To respondents, don't reply to a work request with a summary of your resume. If you're not willing to spend the time to at least read the request and respond specifically to the request, then don't reply. The Web Projects forum isn't a place to get your resume/ portfolio posted on as many threads as possible, it's for the direct, human interaction between coder and client. Members who blanket the forums with their resume replies will be treated as spammers and banned.
To all thread starters, please update your thread's prefix to "resolved", when you've found a coder for your project or partnership (or wish to terminate the request). This is so coders don't waste time bidding on an invalid project. To do this, click on the "Edit" button under the first post of the thread, then the "Go Advanced" button. You have 14 days to update your thread's title.

I have a great idea, my friends all say it must have been done by now but I don't think so, I need a partner that will build it for me for free in return for a full 50% profit share...... Once this thing takes off of course. Full programming partnership!

It is a great idea in my opinion that can be the next MySpace.com or FaceBook.com even!!! BUT, I need it done for free because I am broke right now and for a while I will be, don't ask. No I am not crazy, I just don't have money! PM me for more details on this idea and what I want, I am going to sit down tonight and get an idea grid together because its all still in my head.

The basic is to take a social network script (I already have phpfox) and build a "network of networks". Basically a place where you can log in (this is where the programming comes in) from any of the popular networks!!! MySpace.com, FaceBook.com, Bebo.com, Meebo.com, Yahoo.com, Google.com, Hi5.com, and so on and so fourth and what will happen is you can log in to our network using a primary log in you setup with us with an account that will store your other log ins via database and check the stats of all your accounts or any individual account log in will work for that specific account.

I again have not got the idea all together so I am open to suggestions!!! I have a domain with phpfox 2rc4 on it right now (OurHangoutSpace.com) and because I am broke, unless the programmer will fund it too, I will use that. There are many more ideas I have, please pm me to hear them.

Sorry, but I don't see this as such a great deal. You apparently have nothing to bring to the table besides an idea, and you expect a programmer to devote their time and expertise to develop the business, in return for a vague promise of profits. And all that programming effort to develop your product is worth 50%, where just the idea is worth 50%?
How do you intend to monetize it? Who determines when this "takes off"? What happens during all those years until it makes any money? Who pays the ongoing costs? And, I guess the programmer continues to work for free maintaining and updating the site until it "takes off"?
And, frankly, I don't believe you've thought through the technical aspects of this idea of yours.

I would cover advertising the best I could..... I don't know maybe your right maybe this isn't a good idea, maybe I didn't think it through, but I still want to try to make it happen.... Let me clear the payment up though, I can't pay much at all that's why I said free. If anyone is interested I can pay $30.00 a week but that's the maximum, sorry, believe me if I can find a programmer that can do this I will pay them all the money I can afford! Until it starts making money I could still pay, but like I said not much. I think still think this is a good idea. As for the cost of the hosting, I have a hosting account already and a domain name, OurHangoutSpace.com
My only point was that for a partnership to be successful, as you seem to be interested in, it needs to be more than a couple of people jumping into the project.
I hope you are successful with it. My apologies if I my questions seemed tough, but, if you're going to make your dream a reality, you'll need to be able to answer tough questions. You're only going to garner serious interest for a serious project.

Hmm. I've posted in far fewer than 'all' the threads in this subforum. It's only been a few that have captured my interest.
Don't be discouraged by the comments. What it comes down to is this: ideas don't put food on our tables. Unique projects that have a high failure rate tend to be conceptualized and developed by a professional in their leisure time. This way they are not losing anything.
The best solution is to approach local and national investors with you're ideas, and should potential be seen in you're ideas you can get investors to fund the project. This money is used to pay for developers to make the software for you. You'll need to attach to a niche market if you plan to succeed though; the world has been facebooked/twittered/myspaced/insertothercommunityhere to death. You'll need to table something unique and fresh to draw not only investment solutions, but also membership.
Keep in mind that software development lifecycle is a 9 step process [wiki lists 5 but groups the similars into one step], and only one of those steps involve writing code. If I were to consider investment into software projects I need to see at minimum the first 2 of these steps well laid out and planned. The catch to this is that generally all these steps are planned, designed and written by joint technology specialists and business professionals - even feasibility analysis requires technical background; its no good if a businessman says that some task can be done, and the next day the developer receives it and says that it cannot be done in the language of choice.

Wow..! Way to destroy a dreamer's dreams! You mean there is actual work behind website development? Can't anyone just do this in their spare time?!?!? You are talking way too techygeek
