Wordpress php help needed

Hi guys

I'm having some very frustrating problems using wordpress and hope there might be someone here who can help.

Firstly when I add a new page (not post) and then click on the link for the page is shows a summary of the page and not the whole text, also when I click the 'continue reading' link it doesnt go anywhere?

My guess is it must be in the php somewhere?
