Miasma Online
Brief description:
Miasma Online is a Flash-based MMORPG. The background story and core architecture have been in development for years. We are currently working towards Alpha, which we hope to have ready to be tested around the new year.
Target aim:
Miasma Online is a free-to-play, browser based game (no client download required). Revenue will be generated from ads and a micro-transaction economy.
Compensation:
We do not expect anyone to work for free (except the four of us, of course!), so we can work out some sort of compensation. Anything we pay before the game goes into Alpha will be coming out of our pockets, so we would like to pay a large part of the compensation on the back end in the form of royalties (sharing a percentage of profits, up to X amount of dollars).
We are willing and able to provide compensation upon completion of milestones, in addition to other forms of back end compensation. We will put the mutually agreed upon terms of our arrangement in writing, we already have a template in place from hiring artists in a similar fashion.
Technology:
Our project is being developed in Flash CS4 using ActionScript 3.0. Our database servers are MS-SQL with a PHP-based interface for communication.
Talent needed:
We are looking to bring in an individual with programming experience that can create toolsets for our game. The toolsets would likely include, but are not limited to, a map editor, dialog editor, quest creator, NPC creator, etc. We are flexible on the programing language that will be used to create the toolsets (C#, Flash, Java are fine), but we need to make sure that the results export to .xml or .sql.
This would be a contract for just the toolsets, but if we can develop a good working relationship, we would be interested in inviting this person to stay on as a programmer going forward. Obviously, things would be negotiated at that time, so we can cross that bridge when we get there.
