Can the @whateveremail.com be different than your domain name?

I am curious if I register a different domain name than I have for my website address if I can have this new domain name as the ending for my emails?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Depends on the service your hosting provider provides, or the plan, respectively. If you register a domain including e-mail server (or if this domain is connected to one of your already existing accounts) then you can use it. Best would be to ask the provider, though.
