Gateway page

Hello,

Currently I have my site hosted in with shared hosting, and I am moving it over to a VPS. The domain is with the shared hoster and I know how to move the domain over to my VPS hoster.

I want to move my domain over to my VPS hoster so that it will be easier to move my site over.

My question is how would I go about creating some sort of gateway saying "Down for Maintenance, please come by later" for everyone to see and not be able to navigate the site....except for me as I move my site over?

I know this is a bit confusing but if you could help me out that would be great!

when I have done it several times, I upload the site to the new server, I switch the dns to point to the new site and, when the new site is live, the old one goes away, when the account is closed. no need for a maintenance page then as it switches quickly from one to the other.

Thats true, as long as I keep the same folder structure it could work...I will try that, thanks
