Who owns the code?

I'm about to hired a coder to develop a specific web application. To what extent can I (realistically and practically) prevent or ask the coder not to turn around and resell the code to someone else?

I will have the person sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) which should cover the concept....and selling the code would certainly be disclosure....correct?

Depends on the terms of the NDA and the terms of your contact. If you don't want the code to be resold or reused, add a clause into your contract.

Is it common to expect this? Or is it more common on larger projects, over a certain $ amount? Thanks
