PowerPoint Files on Intranet Site

I have an intranet site on which there are links to PowerPoint files. All users have PowerPoint on their computers and all use IE as their browser.

When a user clicks a ppt link, they get prompted to Open, Save, or Cancel.

If they select Open, IE displays the file in Slide show mode.

Does anyone know of a way, programmatically, to force IE to open the file in PowerPoint?

Check this link I think it contains the solution of what you need:

copy C:\Program Files\ipUnplugged\wininst\rsenv.bat C:\Program Files\ipUnplugged\wininst\rs.bat

Hmm... batch files on a C drive somewhere???? Are you serious???
If (by chance) this is legitimate, what, exactly would these batch files do for me?

I apologize for that, I was working and at the same time copying the url but it seems that the copy command was not effective:
