I'd like to connect a digital camera to a computer via USB cable and have pictures (still, not video) appear immediately on a web page (either my own page, a photo sharing site/etc). So, I click a picture and it's automatically sent directly to a web page - instantly...no down/up loading. Click it appears on the web, click again - it appears....pretty simple.
I don't believe it's possible now (please do correct me!), but if I want this type of program developed - what type of coder would I look for?

Seriously, though, files (images) can't instantaneously appear in another location. As close as you could get would be to have the phone act as a server when connected, or have it connected to the server as a data source for the images. In both cases, however, the images go away when the phone is disconnected.
I had a quantum mechanics guy but he got too close to the devise I hired him to build and all that's left is his photo.
Just to clarify - My digital camera feeds the PC, the PC feeds the web page...automatically and (relatively) instantly. Each photo appears like it would on Sumgmug, Picasa (for example) or a separate web page (not to be confused with a stream of video).
That's the connection scheme you've requested as I understand it. So the software would need to be built to
1) recognize that the phone is connected (like Microsoft ActiveSync does for Windows Mobile smartphones)
2) autoscan for image file names
3) pass those filenames to the web site

That all sounds very simple, but it's not.
I don't think the OP is using a camera built into a phone, it sounds like a standalone digital camera.
@OP: As for a solution, how much have you played around with Picasa? It supports downloading images off the camera and then uploading them onto picasa web. You can even set certain albums to auto sync with the Internet so the web version is always up to date.
Thanks - but there is no phone in the scheme. Digital camera to a PC, then PC to a web page.....
But I got the idea - basically a program to scan a folder in my computer for images - if new images are added, initiate a program to upload the picture to the web. Doesn't sound too bad (the non-programmer said!).

Addendum - Just found the Eye-Fi card for a camera - downloads pics directly to your computer and/or one of 20+/- photo sharing web pages. Very easy!
